I Tried
I had a great conversation with an ex the other day. He and I remained friends over the years and I am very grateful for it. As much as I’ve pushed him away, he’s pushed back to remain a part of my life.
I digress…
In this particular conversation we were talking about camping, and he started to laugh uncontrollably. I, of course, asked what he was laughing about and he said he remembered when we called ourselves going out to the woods to go camping. Yup, it was something I actually agreed to doing. Why? Because it wasn’t really camping, it was more like cabin-ing, lol! We went with another couple, and when we got there, in an area where it was obvious we were the ONLY blacks in the neighborhood, we were very disappointed! It was an awful looking trailer park in the woods with no bedrooms, no air conditioner, no hot water, and LOTS OF BUGS. It was far from what I thought it was going to be. What did I imagine? I guess, something like the Pigeon Forge vacation rentals. What made it even worse was there were only one bed, and one sofa. The other couple took the bed, and my ex and I took the sofa. We ended up sleeping on top of each other in the BLAZING HEAT! NOT COOL! I am happy for the experience, but the chance of me doing it again is slim to none!
