"Good Woman"

I am dedicating this to all of my friends. I wrote this because of several conversations with a numerous amount of people. This story may not be yours, the intent is, but hopefully not for long. This situation weighs heavy on my heart. Some of you may not know, but I am in love. I’ve told him, he knows, and I intend on loving him forever if he lets me. I have had a few relationships in the past that mimic the story. I pray that I never go back there. I am a “good woman”. Appreciation is key in any relationship….Appreciate what you have before it’s gone!
***Btw, I spaced each line so that YOU WILL BE ABLE TO READ BETWEEN THE LINES!!!***

“Good Woman”

She was the one that treated you like you were nothing,

Like you were less than a man,

She would get upset and start fights over the bed not being made

up, or the temperature of the room being too cold or too hot, then

would yell at the top of her lungs just to get you upset, or just get a

small rise out of you. That was her definition of caring, that’s the

way her mother raised her so it only seemed right. If you ever

allowed any of your friends to come over to your house, she would

find ways to embarrass you and make you look like a chump in

front of you friends. Sometimes she would go as far as saying that

you have no balls, threaten you…tell you that if she even suspected

you would lift a hand to her she would call the police, have you

locked up and make sure you wouldn’t ever see your kids again.

Finally, after years of abuse, and drama, you leave. Never to

return.

A couple of years go by, a few women come in and out of your life,

your paying a ridiculous amount of child support, but it doesn’t

matter as long as your kids are well taken care of. You meet a

woman, a “good woman”. Although, you wouldn’t realize it even if

she slapped the mess out of you. But she is…a “good woman”. You

know, that woman who would do anything just to see you smile, as

if that’s all she needed out of life. You go places you’ve never

been, with her of course. She helps you when no one else would.

You get into a jam, and find out she’s that “ride or die chick”.

Whatever you need, whatever you want, anything that gives you

life, she’ll accommodate.

And how, may I ask, do you repay her? Show her that you

appreciate her? Act as if you care?

I’ll answer this for you…..You treat her like “RANDOM CHICK”.

Btw, the appropriate definition of random chick would be…to treat

a woman as if she’s the same as all of the others, disposable, not

worthy of being treated with proper respect. You treat her like the

first woman that treated you like shit. You finally get “the one”,

and you don’t even realize that the more you put her down, yell at

her, break promises, or fail to make her smile, the less she’ll love

you. Why should she? None of the random chicks did, and by

looking at it, she must not be any better. I get it, she’s just not what

your used to right? There has got to be some kind of catch. I mean

who would ever think that having a relationship could actually be

good? Although, she did everything, and more, that no one has

ever done to you and for you, and she didn’t do any of it because

you asked or because she expected anything in return. She did it

because she wanted to, and because she truly loves you.

So now that she’s packing her bags because she’s had enough,

what do you do? Are you gonna do anything? Tell me, because I’m

ten feet away from the door.
