Changing My Template

I know I lack patience, however, I felt like I had enough, today, to sit down with my laptop and change the template of my blog. Maybe stick some pretty flowers on it, or something like that. I went through some template sites and found one for Blogger, that was for free.
SO EXCITED!!!
But, then I went in to change the template and it deleted my entire page!
OMG!!!!
Luckily, I know the value & importance of saving EVERYTHING!
After trying to revive my site....I settled on keeping the same template that I've always had. :-(
Not thrilled about it because I wanted to get a new look.
Is there anyone that can help me with this?
I don't want the basic template from Blogger....I want something BETTER, AND PRETTIER....like the one's I saw on Suck My Lolly's Free Blogger Designs.
