Singles Service @ CCC
On Friday, 1/26/2007, my Natasha and I attended the Christian Cultural Center Singles Ministry 2007 Kickoff.
I was delighted to hear of the new direction the ministry is going. The minisrty is offering different types of small group sessions for mentoring, prayer synergies, administration, and other events catered to the singles. I'm excited for the 2007 Singles Ministry.
But, the purpose of this post is to share what I learned from this particular service.
For this service, Chris Burge lead the discussion/service.
His focus for the evening was to teach us how to be Heart Smart Singles.
He gave us the characteristics...there were roughly eleven total. I'll list them for you, and hopefully you can apply some of these characteristics to your life as I, also, work on my application. If there is a section that you need to be elaborated, please drop me a line. :)
Characteristics for Heart Smart Singles
1) They recognize when they are having a "defining moment".
* When staying the same is no longer an option.
2) They are pro's at pouring all of their energy into the present season, even if it's not the season they want it to be.
*Embrace the season with contentment & thanksgiving.
3) Know the difference between a good friend, a potential mate, and a bad distraction.
4) You can't make someone become what you need them to be.
5) Realize you can't expect an unhealthy person to give you a healthy response.
6) Constantly trying to do the next right thing.
*That could have a positive impact.
7) Know how to bring their sexual tension to the Lord.
*Maintain boundaries.
8) Always recognize Satan drives from the rear, but The Holy Spirit leads from the front.
*God never drives...He leads.
9) Recognize their periods of vulnerability.
10)(MEN) Most men in The Bible do not finish strong.
11)(WOMEN) Students of their emotions.
A couple of questions for you...
1) What are the areas that you are not being Heart Smart?
2) How would being a Heart Smart Single impact your peace of mind/your sleep at night?
I don't claim to have all of the answers...and I still have a zillion questions, however, Chris Burge made a great point...
Application is the evidence of learning.
So...I'm going to begin MY application.....
